MILNET - 1983

As civilians began using the ARPANET, it became necessary to create two separate networks, ARPANET and MILNET.

This image diagrams the ARPANET along with other connecting networks, including MILNET.

Though initially for military purposes, the network became a civilian network. There was now an international network, strictly for civilian use. Today's global network grew from this concept.
